The Prayer Room

The Prayer Room is the central location of our ministry and the heartbeat of the FPF Missions Base. The Prayer Room is designed to reflect the tabernacle of David (1 Chronicles 22–24), where there was continuous worship of the Lord and intercession for the world. Located at our Missions Base facility, the Prayer Room is arranged with tables, chairs, and various prayer aids, including either a live worship team or recorded worship music at all times that it is open.  The Prayer Room is open to the public 12 hours a day Monday through Friday.  We plan to expand these hours soon, until it is open day and night, 24/7.  At this time we conduct six prayer “sets” or sessions a day, most of which are two hours long (see the schedule below).  We currently have two different prayer formats for the various prayer sets: Intercession (with worship and prayer) and Prophetic Worship. See below for a fuller description of each of these prayer formats. Our desire is to encourage believers to pray, so the Prayer Room has been designed as a relaxed atmosphere where you may come and go as you please and participate on whatever level you would desire.  Everyone is welcome at any time the Prayer Room is open.

Prayer Room Schedule

Prayer Room Aids and Formats:
In the Prayer Room we have various aids to  facilitate prayer and worship.  An art station is provided where artwork can be created as an expression of prayer and worship.  We offer what we call "soaking prayer" for individuals—anyone who comes with a need for healing or other needs.  Simply sit in one of the blue soaking prayer chairs in the Prayer Room, and a team will come and pray for you personally.  Finally, we provide a Communion station where you can privately receive Communion (the Lord’s Table) if you wish.

Intercession Sets:
These are two-hour prayer sessions focused on corporate intercession.  We provide a prayer leader, a worship leader, vocalists, and musicians to facilitate these sets.  These prayer times are given various prayer themes.  As the worship team leads in worship, the prayer leader invites any and all in the prayer room who desire to do so, the opportunity to pray on the microphone.  Often the worship team will antiphonalize the prayers being offered through spontaneous simple worship choruses which everyone sings together (called “harp and bowl” or worship intercession).   Also, there are sometimes periods of what we call “rapid fire" prayer when the prayer leader invites everyone in the prayer room to line up and give short, ten-second prayers on the microphone one by one.

Prophetic Worship Sets:
These sets focus on devotional prayer and are perfect for individual Bible study, meditation, and personal time. Come in, bring your Bible, and sit in the presence of the Lord. There could be either recorded worship music, the IHOP-KC prayer room webstream, or a live worship leader playing during these sets.

Worship With the Word:
In the future we will be incorporating Worship With the Word prayer sets.  These sets will have a worship leader and team that engage in corporate worship and meditation on the scriptures. During these sets a member of the team reads a selected passage from the Bible, then the worship team sings through the passage phrase by phrase.  These sets are a good time to read the Word and sing it along with the worship team as an expression of meditation through singing.  Worship With the Word is a prayer format in which we agree with God's heart as we sing the Biblical truths of who God is and what He promises to do.

We invite you to come and experience the presence of God in the Prayer Room and participate however you wish to personally.  If you have specific prayer requests, please speak to the prayer leader or any of the other staff present, or come to the soaking prayer chairs and share your request with the prayer team that prays with you.
