The Joseph Project"Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh?” (Isaiah 58:6-7) “…Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” (Matt. 25:34-40)
Our God mandates that we reach out to those who need help—our brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as those who do not yet know Him. Oppression, lack, and poverty are the fruits of spiritual darkness and a fallen world. In God’s Heart, justice, provision, and compassion are interrelated and equally important as we see in the words spoken by the prophet Isaiah and The Lord Jesus, Himself.
The Joseph Project was birthed in 2003 in response to numerous prophetic words and visions from The Lord including a number of prophecies that Fredericksburg will be a city of refuge. The Joseph Project is the benevolent arm of The Fredericksburg Prayer Furnace.
MISSION
The Joseph Project has a twofold purpose:
Serving the poor The Joseph Project seeks to respond to God’s mandate to serve the poor both locally and internationally through a number of outreaches:
Locally: we currently serve the Greater Fredericksburg area by partnering with other Fredericksburg ministries such as Micah Ministries and New Generation Outreach as they minister to the day-to-day needs of the homeless and downtrodden. We are also available to serve the local churches in their individual outreach programs. We have a street ministry called Seven Loaves that prepares and serves approximately 100 meals per week to the homeless in the City of Fredericksburg, as well as providing clothing donations as the needs arise. We welcome volunteers!
Israel: we are helping the Jewish people through partnerships with other ministries such as MJAA (www.mjaa.org ), Jerusalem Institute of Justice (www.jij.org.il), Jacob’s Hope (www.jacobshope.com ); and Succat Hallel (www.jerusalempraise.com )
Internationally: the church in Bosnia, missionaries in Turkey, Voice of The Martyrs, and others in various parts of the world (as The Lord leads) will be our international focus in assisting the poor.
The Joseph Storehouse The story of Joseph is one of God’s mercy during His judgment, and a story of redemption and Divine protection during very difficult times. The LORD redeems Joseph from evil plans to destroy his destiny as God’s instrument to save and protect the Jewish nation during a time of world famine. Joseph did this by responding to God-given dreams of the coming famine and established storehouses during a season of plenty that provided food and supplies during the world-wide famine which saved the lives of both Gentiles and Jews alike. There have been numerous prophecies that Fredericksburg will be a city of refuge. We believe The Lord wants to build a large, Christian-owned community storehouse which will store water, food, clothing, emergency and medical supplies, and household goods to assist area churches in their respective outreach to the poor and needy, as well as be a source of humanitarian aid during a natural or man-made disaster. We believe this effort is biblical (Genesis 41 and Proverbs 22:3) and in line with numerous prophetic words and visions that recognize Fredericksburg as a city of refuge.
